Author Biography
Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920) was a leading Dutch figure in education, politics, and theology. He was a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church, served in Parliament, and was appointed prime minister. Kuyper also founded the Free University (VU) in Amsterdam, a political party, and a denomination, in addition to writing on a wide array of subjects.
John H. Kok (PhD, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) is professor of philosophy emeritus at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and managing director of Dordt College Press. He also served as dean for research and scholarship and as director of the Andreas Center for Reformed Scholarship and Service until his retirement in 2014. Kok is the author, editor, and translator of numerous works, including studies of and works by D. H. Th. Vollenhoven, one of the originators of Reformational philosophy, as well as his mentor, Calvin Seerveld.
