Some twenty arrangements evoke the fresh flowers displayed throughout the museum when it first opened to the public, in 1935. Kanevsky's lifelike porcelain flowers have been exhibited in museums around the world, including the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens in Washington, DC. With an essay by Xavier F. Salomon and exquisite photography, this book documenting Kanevsky's twenty extraordinary creations is a lasting souvenir of a unique installation at the Frick.
Author Biography
Xavier F. Salomon is the deputy director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator at The Frick Collection, New York.
Vladimir Kanevsky is a figurative sculptor, who has been based in the USA for 35 years.
