Product Description

by Ashley Casalino (Illustrator), Stephanie Dorn (Author)

Piper the Pup is about the close relationship between a girl and her beloved dog.
Through colorful illustrations, the story begins with a series of fun outings and activities the two characters share together, then delicately transitions to ways one can cope and move forward after a loved one passes away. It touches on the sensitive issue of grief over the loss of a pet, friend, family member, etc.

This is an engaging rhyming book for young readers, dog lovers, and even adults who can relate to losing a loved one. It also serves as a unique tool for parents and/or teachers to use as they navigate the difficult, yet important, conversation about death with young children.

Piper the Pup is a special tribute to Stephanie Dorn's brother, Jeff Woods, who was tragically killed July 3, 2021. Writing the book (with the dog personifying Jeff) was an emotional, personal, and somewhat therapeutic process for the author. It is an expression of love that will keep Jeff's spirit alive and will provide hope and comfort to others.

This is Stephanie Dorn's second children's book.
