Product Description

by Joseph M. Kockelmans (Author)

In his memoir, Picking Up Where We Left Off: My Bear Spring Camps Stories, author Joseph M. Kockelmans shares his stories about a fishing camp he loves. For two weeks every August since he was five years old, the author and his family went to Bear Spring Camps, located in central Maine, where he made life-long friends who feel like family. In eighteen chapters, Mr. Kockelmans relates short stories of fishing, porch parties and happy hour gatherings, the biggest fish he ever caught, boat rides aboard the Galileo, about his best friend, his mother, campers he learned from and campers he grew up with, and much more. In two of the stories he relates different aspects of the same event, when he came to camp after his mother passed away and the comfort he received from the other campers. The readers who know Bear Spring Camps will be able to compare their experiences with his, and the readers who have never been there will get to experience a little bit of it for themselves.
