Product Description

by Wonsuk Ma (Author)

This book is the fourth volume in the APTS Press Occasional

Papers Series. The first three books are Pentecostals and the

Poor: Reflections From the Indian Context by Ivan Satyavrata, For

All Peoples: A Biblical Theology of Missions in the Gospels and Acts

by Craig S. Keener, and The Versatility of Paul: Artisan Missioner,

Community Developer, Pastoral Ed Educator by Robert Banks. All are

available through our website, www.aptspress.com.

The purpose of this series is to produce smaller books

comprised of articles that deal with theological, anthropological,

and missiological issues relevant to serving God in Asia. From

time to time, other disciplines may also be included. As the title

suggests, the books will be published as articles of interest to our

readers become available.

This book explores the critical role of context in shaping

Asian Pentecostal theology and in developing its believers'

identity and mandates (or mission) in Asia. With incredible

socio-cultural diversity in the region, sample cases are presented

at the risk of generalization. While context shapes the beliefs and

daily Christian life of Pentecostals, the same context also shapes

their self-understanding and life's meaning. I further aim to

demonstrate the grassroots nature of Pentecostal spirituality and

mission engagement.
