Ling Dingnian is an outstanding mini-novel writer. In 1994 he became a member of the Chinese Writers' Association. His titles include Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Writer's Network, President of the World Mini-novel Research Society, Executive Vice President of the Chinese Association for Creating Mini-films and Mini-novels and a guest professor of Asia Microfilm Academy.
