Author Biography

Jane Austen (1775-1817), nacida en Steventon, Inglaterra, ocupa un destacado lugar en la historia de la literatura inglesa. Interesada especialmente en la psicología de los personajes y en las relaciones humanas, cultivó el gusto por el retrato íntimo y el estudio de la vida doméstica, apoyándose en un depurado estilo y en una indudable perfección técnica. Es la autora de seis novelas Sentido y sensibilidad (1811), Orgullo y prejuicio (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), La abadía de Northanger (1817) y Persuasión (1817).
