Designed by William Hawley Bowlus of San Fernando, California, this beautiful little sailplane has inspired several generations of young and old to pursue carriers in all facets of aviation including the sport of soaring. This is the story of Hawley Bowlus and his iconic BA-100 Baby Albatross. ON THE WINGS OF AN ALBATROSS is the Winner of the 2015 Vintage Sailplane Association Literary Award.

Author Biography

Jeff Byard is an Airline Pilot and A&P/IA Mechanic who has been flying since 1967. He first learned to fly at El Mirage Field, CA as a 14 year old in Gus Briegleb's WWII surplus Schweizer TG-3 sailplanes. He is active in the restoration, maintaining and flying of various antique aircraft and regularly flies his Baby Albatross and modern Genesis 2 sailplanes at the Mountain Valley Airport in Tehachapi, CA.
