Product Description
This old wood lacquerware plate screen is a quiet study in refinement. At 10.6" in diameter, the circular “reward plate” form is finished in dark lacquer and outlined in delicate gold floral patterns that appear to float just above the surface.
Traditionally, such plates were presented as rewards or displayed in study rooms and reception areas as symbols of cultivation, taste, and good fortune. Here, the aged lacquer and fine gold lines bring that history into a contemporary setting—perfect for a console, bookshelf, or low cabinet where you curate a few meaningful pieces rather than many.
The plate can be displayed upright on a stand as a screen, leaned against the wall behind smaller objects, or incorporated into a layered vignette with ceramics, books, and small sculptures. Its geometry and restrained palette work beautifully in Japandi or wabi‑sabi interiors, adding a sense of story without visual clutter.
