Product Description

by Joan P. Mayer (Author)

From her home at Nursery Place, built in 1790, Joan Bowman Pursley Mayer recounts the history of the land her family settled, with stories of her parents, and their life including The Iroquois Hunt Club. She also examines many of the ancestral families that settled the land in Clark County, Kentucky.

Author Biography

Joan Mayer began this project as a genealogy work for her descendants. But her stories were so compelling that she was encouraged to publish them in book form. She has lived all of her life in the area of Clark County, Kentucky where her ancestors first settled in the early 1800s. She mixes stories from the 1940s through today with genealogy and includes a section on fox hunting with The Iroquois Hunt Club. A truly fascinating life from a gifted storyteller.
