Product Description

by Allison Durham (Author), Jon Glass (Author), Jennifer C. Compton (Author)

Einstein A Go-Go is the legendary all-ages live music and dance club in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, that became a celebrated clubhouse of sorts for thousands of young people from 1985-1997. Emerging acts at the time such as Nirvana, The Replacements, 10,000 Maniacs, The Cranberries, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Living Colour, Jane's Addiction and hundreds more graced the Einstein's stage creating unforgettable nights for fans of the alternative music revolution. Musicians found the Faircloth family's club to be among the friendliest tour stops in the country where they would be served up Mr. Bill's famous fried chicken before their shows and then able to cool off in the Atlantic Ocean after.

Occupancy 250 is the ultimate collection of Einstein A Go-Go photos, fliers, ticket stubs and mementos accompanied by the recollections of the clubgoers who immersed themselves in the indie, college rock and dance music played nightly, interviews with dozens of musical artists who recalled Einstein's uniqueness and the reflections of those who helped make the one-of-a-kind venue still beloved even decades later. Einstein's official capacity was only 250 people, but its extraordinary impact on the thousands who passed through its doors was infinite.
