McKeating has been an ordained deacon in the Roman Catholic Church since 1979. He has been involved in catechesis at the parish level for nearly three decades, teaching Sacramental Preparation, Confirmation and RCIA. He is a widower with two adult children and four grandchildren, and a practicing attorney. He holds a Master of Arts in Theology with Honors from Franciscan University of Steubenville, as well as B.A., M.A. and Juris Doctor degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He currently serves as a pastoral associate at a parish in Buffalo, where he concentrates on evangelization and catechesis.
