As a new seventh grader at Cedar Middle School, Rebecca Sherman and her BFF, Mel, are still on shaky ground, and her butterflies are in overdrive after she finds out her new crush, Finn, has transferred to her school. All Becca wants is a good year. But middle school... Grr! She's too young to date, finds algebra difficult, is assigned two parts in the school play, and her seventh-grade friends continue to create drama.
Thankfully, her easygoing eighth-grade friend, Libby, is always there for her, and her brother's best friend, AJ, is a welcome distraction. Two teachers are also helpful. One introduces her to a word that makes a lasting impression while another provides much-needed comic relief.
Still, will she ever stop being klutsy? How can she ever get over feeling insecure? Will she eventually be allowed to date Finn? Will she make a fool of herself in the school play, or will God hear her prayers and help her to rise above it all and survive her first semester of middle school?
