It is time for Christians to "Make The Pulpit Great Again" (#MTPGA). Do not mishear me friends: I am not suggesting that we make pastors great. The cult of personality that exists today related to "rock star" pastors is a blight upon the Church, not a cause of celebration. What I am suggesting is that we make the role of shepherd great again. God still calls people to be His under-shepherds, to teach His people His Word, and to educate as well as train them for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12). What will that take? It will take the remnant body of Christ pulling in the same direction. It will take the remnant body of Christ holding pastors and one another accountable for faithfulness to the task of feeding sheep. I am stating plainly that until or unless Christians realize that they must hold up the banner of truth and righteousness as a clear rallying point, the Church will remain ineffective.
Author Biography
Mike Spaulding was ordained to the ministry in 1998. Since then he has planted two Calvary Chapel churches: Calvary Christian Fellowship, St. Marys, Ohio, in 1998, and Calvary Chapel of Lima, Ohio, in 2005, where he currently serves as pastor. Mike holds a B.A. in Organizational Management, a MTS in Theological Studies, and a Ph.D. in apologetics. He is the author of numerous articles including, "Leadership and Organizational Vision," "Servant Leadership," "The Ministry of Teaching," "A Brief Look At Romans 13," and "How and Why Should We Study the Bible." He is a contributing author to the soon to be released, The Baker Dictionary of World Religions, H. Wayne House, General Editor, and has just released his new book, #MTPGA: 12 Things Christians Can Do Right Now. Mike has written for several apologetics ministries including Got Questions?
