Product Description

by Lester Wingate (Author)

"Mountains to Climb" is a must read for every veteran who served our country defending the ideas and principles embedded in our democracy. It is a probative exercise written with a unique perspective depicting the culture that existed during the Vietnam Conflict and the imperiling consequences so many veterans faced returning home to the unwelcomed streets of America. After 45 years of silence, out of reluctance I finally decided to move beyond the veil of years of denial and embrace the truth of a war that still bears its wounds. It was a two year journey bringing this book forward; a humbling ordeal not so easy when you consider the daunting task of accurately articulating my feelings of events that had such a devastating effect on my life.

Where others have written books, some archiving their day to day experience, I merely offer a summarization hopefully with a reasonable level of depth and transparency documenting my days in the "Jungle" and the impact the Social Revolution of the 60's played on the battlefield.

I dedicate this book to every "Veteran" who responded with valor defending the ideas and principles woven into the fabric of our Nation. They are revered warriors with uncommon courage who sacrificed their lives defending the sacred promise of peace, security, prosperity and hope for a better future. Justifiably, they are our heroes; unselfish servants of humanity who "sacrificed all for the sake of all".

For the multitude of Wounded Warriors still facing the daily battles of broken dreams, broken spirits, broken lives and broken promises; this book is offered as a conduit for hope and reclamation from the brokenness of war that has and continues to claim the lives of too many of our war stricken Combat Veterans.
