Product Description

by Julia Riede (Author)

More Alpine Socks & Stockings: that's seven more patterns for socks and knee height stockings featuring traditional Alpine stitch patterns. All knitting patterns are charted and contain instructions on adjusting to fit your shoe size, calf starting position and how to fine tune leg and calf circumference. Alpine Knitting has been part of my life since early childhood. Being taught how to knit by my grandmother in rural Austria in the early 1980ies, the lovely stitch patterns originating in the Alps have always fascinated me. Typical Alpine Dirndl dresses tell us lots about the wearer - like, which region she comes from and if she's married or not - and also the socks and stockings worn in traditional Alpine clothing tell details about the wearer. In earlier times, each village had its own stitch patterns for socks I hope you'll enjoy my compilation of knitting patterns for Alpine socks and stockings

Author Biography

Dr. Julia Riede is a nuclear physicist in love with her knitting needles. She has been taught how to knit by her grandmother in her early childhood in Austria and never stopped since. After many years of following knitting patterns of others, she finally decided to start creating her own back in 2008 which led to the publication of over 40 knitting patterns, four books and countless blog posts on how to design shawls, create your own knitting patterns and how to improve your knitting skills. You can find her on Twitter as @jriedeknits and her website at www.jriede.com.
