Every child desires acknowledgment on some level from those around them - be it people who see them every day to those who birthed them. A child's desire to be recognized - to be seen, heard & known is as essential as that child's basic need to be loved unconditionally. This is the story of one such child, Marcus. Marcus is the younger brother of an incredibly gifted young boy, Darren. Born of small stature along with an unbelievable yet undiscovered aptitude on a peculiar night during a freakish display of nature, Marcus also possesses the astonishing & often frightening tendency to actually diminish in appearance whenever mistreated by those he loved. Together, the combined abilities of these brothers improve the world in which they live & benefit humanity everywhere. The public regards them as geniuses while they remain the cherished jewels of their mother, Lila's, eyes - her steadfast love, gentle nurturing & never-ending support are the cornerstones of the precious link between the two siblings. However, Lila's husband & the boy's father, Simon, is a heartless, overbearing, relentless presence who views his sons only as avenues of endless revenue & indispensable in not only building but sustaining an immense enterprise built on a foundation of terrible secrets, abuse, neglect & treachery. Necessary only if his children make & keep their father wealthy, the world was never aware of the horrible environment the children and their mother endured for many years ... surroundings & situations that will inevitably tear a family irreparably apart while forcing one young man to grow, stand strong & eventually come to terms with his life-long tormentor.
Author Biography
Born in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & eventually raised in North Philadelphia, D. began writing poetry and short stories at a very early age. Eternally possessed with a creative mind not only filled with imagination but also many questions, D. often sought answers to those questions while always conversing with any & everyone - providing the writings with flavor, color & verve. Currently residing near Raleigh, North Carolina since 2007, D. continues to engage in stimulating discussions with whomever while penning insightful poems and stories brought to life with a unique blend of quirkiness, heart, thought and humor.
