Product Description

by Vincent Gilbert (Author)

MEMOIRS OF A RELUCTANT GUNNER tells the story of Vincent Gilbert from his conscription into the British Army in 1943 through his time in in India as a gunner in the 22nd Anti-tank Regiment. Vincent shares his experiences with clarity and wit, his frank descriptions of the sorrows and difficulties of war softened by a ready and disarming humour. Vinnie was born in Stafford, England in 1925 and was educated at St. Patrick's Elementary School and the College of Technology in that same town. He was enlisted into the Royal Regiment of Artillery at the age of 18 and served in India. He immigrated to Canada in 1965 and now lives in Guelph, Ontario.
