Author Biography

Kara Wagner Sherer grew up in Marshall, Minnesota where she preached for the first time at age 17 at St. James Episcopal Church. She preached again as a senior at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Kara taught school in London, New York, and Chicago. After graduating from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, she was ordained a priest in 2003 in the Diocese of Chicago. She served as the Assistant Rector at St. Paul and the Redeemer in Chicago for two years, and was called to be Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in 2005. She and her husband John have two daughters, Madeleine and Carlisle.
