When Manikarnika, who was born in Varanasi, is seen by Dixt, a minister in the princely State of Jhansi, he suggests that she marry Gangadar Rao. Prince of Jhansi Sadashiv Rao plots with British officers to conquer Jhansi because he has been promised a stake in it after doing so. Sadashiv Rao poisons the holy water at the child's holy rite after the birth of Lakshmi and Gangadhar Rao's son; he dies and departs from Gangadhar Rao on his death birth.Gangadhar Rao made the decision to adopt a son, and Sadashiv regrets not adopting his son in favor of a young child who rushes to Lakshmi Bai after Gangadhar Rao's passing. Since Jhansi doesn't have a male monarch, the East India company decides to invade; nevertheless, Lakshmi Bai resolves to ascend to the throne and defend Jhansi.
