Product Description

by Clay Mercer (Author)

Brian Edwards, a former child abuse investigator, is happily retired, dividing his time between his family, his horses, and his friends. Brian's reputation as a good ol' boy is only exceeded by his penchant to speak his mind without regard for the consequences. Jim Arnall is Georgia's governor and his niece, Juliette, is missing. As Governor, Arnall can't risk his political career by officially intervening in the investigation, but his love for his sister's child and his personal code of honor demand that some action must be taken. Mutual acquaintances in the law enforcement community bring Brian to Governor Arnall's attention and assure the Governor that Brian, despite his age and attitude is just the man to locate Juliette. Juliette Neal is the governor's niece, a bright-eyed young woman diagnosed early in life with Williams Syndrome. Her cheerful demeanor and ease with strangers offer a dangerous combination when she attracts the attention of the wrong people. Brian, given carte blanche by the Governor, quickly rises to the occasion, but can he handle the authority and responsibility he's been given? Set in Savannah, Georgia, Low County Boil offers a revealing look into the disabilities field and the professionals that serve individuals with disabilities, while weaving a compelling tale of intrigue and deception coupled with the ruthless violence associated with the international drug trade.

Author Biography

Born in the South and raised on the back of a horse, Clay Mercer has never been one to conceal his feelings. "I ain't afraid of snakes, green-broke horses, or red-headed women, but don't ask me to loan you money or pick you up at the airport." Published weekly in his hometown newspaper, The Cordele Dispatch, Clay uses his own brand of down-home humor to reflect on the methods Americans employ in the pursuit of happiness. Readers can also find Clay on his website, www.claymercer.com, where he has also been known to show off his favorite horses.
