I wrote this book because when my son was a little boy, he asked me if I would give him a dog. I refused to do so, because I knew it was a big responsibility. Dogs needed a lot of attention
and love. Being a single parent was difficult, and I didn't have the extra time to take care of a pet.
I had pets in the past, but I was never good at giving them the attention they needed. I always felt that I let them down by not being there for them. Pets were to be treated like family. The book shows the communication and bond that is formed between a child and his loyal companion.
