The detailed writing assignment sheets guide students through the assignments. The first assignment is to inform: students create a fire escape plan for their homes. The second assignment is to express personal opinions: students tell what they think the future will be like (as a preparation for the group activity). The third assignment is to persuade: students persuade the teacher that today is better than 50 years from now will be or vice versa.
