Many of these lights were photographed at the turn of the century for use as postcards. Whether it be Fort Niagara Lighthouse in New York or Split Rock Lighthouse in Minnesota, then as now, people have loved to visit the lights while on holiday and send the postcards home to loved ones. Many of these important navigational aids are still in existence and can be visited thanks to the historical societies and associations that maintain them.
