Product Description

by Nancy Robison (Author)

A proud member of the Eighth Air Force, my brother co-piloted a B-17 in WWII and recorded his arduous flight training in dozens of letters sent home. Training for these young men was a huge job. The demand to remember what they had learned in books and then how to execute the exercises in the air; to cope with climate, food, commanding officers, crew members, new studies and learning new planes wore heavy on the boys, many who had never been away from home before. And then a large percentage of them were killed on their first mission. On the home front mothers worked for the first time in defense plants and children learned the dreadfulness of war. This is a true story of real life drama, romance, adventure, loyalty and patriotism from 1941 to 1946.
