The book presents Dickey's sculpture and works on paper, as well as her film and performance-based works. Essays explore the conceptual, historical and aesthetic concerns that have driven Dickey's practice for three decades: her ongoing study of pattern and decoration, interest in landscape design and the history of the garden, feminist politics and references to various historical art styles and schools, ranging from medieval tapestry to Minimalist sculpture.
