Kanku Dai is one of the outstanding katas of Shotokan Karate. In this first volume, the applications of the Kata Kanku Dai and the Itosu no Kushanku are presented. The bunkai that have been worked on go far beyond the usual framework. New graphic representations were used for the applications and special emphasis was placed on realistic interpretation relevant to practice. These explanations should serve as an incentive for a deeper introduction to the bunkai of the kata using the example of the Kushanku. In another volume, the applications of the kata Kanku Sho and the Chatan Yara no Kushanku are compared.
