Product Description

by Edward Clemmer (Author)

Julian of Norwich in Her Phenomenology engages Julian's primordial religious experience of May 1373 as was given to her initially; as Julian subsequently gave definition to its revelation within her spiritual texts; and in the hermeneutics made manifest from centuries of historical context.

Author Biography

American-born, Edward J. Clemmer (PhD, Saint Louis University, 1975) left the United States in October 1992 for the University of Malta, initially for one year as Psychology Head, but stayed on staff until 1996. After Maltese citizenship in 2002, his life took a theological «sudden turn» for another twenty years, inclusive of his MA in Spirituality (University of Malta, 2017) and Julian of Norwich. His books include: his autobiographical spiritual journey Gospel (on the Road to) Emmaus (2011; in 2nd edition, 2022); and his transliteration and annotation of John Heigham's «Spiritual Pilgrimage of Hierusalem (1604-1605), » now as The Voyage of the Cross (2016), the English recusant's innovative re-rendering of Flemish Carmelite Jan Pascha's spiritual classic. With Charló Camilleri, O. Carm., their forthcoming Born of the Word is an English-language edition of the complete works of the Florentine Carmelite mystic Santa Maria Maddalena De' Pazzi (1566-1607). He is a Founding Member Emeritus of the Association for Psychological Science (Washington, DC). Also, as a married Catholic layman, he is founding Chairperson of The Maltese Association for the Study of Spirituality and Spiritual Companionship (MASC).
