Common Use in Gold Refining
Sodium Metabisulfite is used to precipitate gold from filtered aqua regia solutions after the gold has been dissolved.
Typical usage guideline:
Mix approximately 1 ounce of Sodium Metabisulfite with 20–30 ml of water per ounce of gold dissolved in solution, then slowly add the mixture to the filtered aqua regia solution to precipitate the gold.
