This is the story of three little black girls from Camden... from the perspective of just one.
The extraordinary entities that continuously pushed, pulled, shoved, taught, tortured, betrayed, affirmed, lead, filled and blessed my life are revealed here. I didn't write much of it down and have forgotten more than I remember. These are the memories, lessons and moments that survived thirty-eight years of weed and cigarettes, some liquor, some cocaine, a lot of mistakes, a lot of lessons learned and forgotten and learned again, a lot of the most glorious moments you can imagine and a lot of the most unimaginable hell. The predominant figures that will emerge are Barbra Ingram, Evette Benton and Jesus Christ. Together we became the most highly sought-after background vocalists in Philadelphia, Pa. during the 1970's and early 80's and we didn't even know it until it was over. Well, I didn't know it. I was much too busy having fun.
I ache for their voices; Barbara and Evette's I mean. Jesus and I keep a running conversation going. And, all due respect, It's like, I can talk about my family, but you can't.
