However, at the same time, APPI takes different approaches from GDPR from the viewpoint of utilization of personal data, e.g. as big data. This book outlines APPI in comparison with GDPR according to the order of the provisions of GDPR.

Author Biography

Toshio Asai, Director of UniLaw Business Law Institute, which is engaged in research of business law issues. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Tohoku University in 1978, passed the 1998 examination of the patent attorney, and obtained a Certificate of American Law Study at Temple University Law School (Tokyo) in 2003. Since graduated from Tohoku University and until August 2017, he had been engaged in corporate legal affairs as a member or General Counsel of the legal departments of Japanese companies and foreign-affiliated companies, including an automobile manufacturer, computer manufacturer, luxury brand and IT services company. He is a member of the Japanese Association of International Business Law, GBL (Global Business Law) Institute, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He has written articles and books in relation to business law issues.
