Product Description

by Connie Marie Huddleston (Author)

If ancestry contributes to the character of a man, one can well understand the charisma, the fortitude, and the adventurous spirit of President Theodore Roosevelt. Built upon five American generations of his maternal Scots bloodline--the Bullochs of Georgia--Theodore could have been no less. This book centers on the life story of James Stephens Bulloch, Theodore's maternal grandfather. Yet, the tale began in the 1720s with the first James Bulloch's immigration to the American colonies. He was a Scotsman, who became devoted to the Patriot Cause.
The story continued with his son Archibald, a member of Georgia's Sons of Liberty and the First Continental Congress, who rose to the office of President of Georgia. Archibald's son James became a captain during the American Revolutionary War and followed in his father's footsteps as a civil servant. Captain Bulloch's son, Major James Stephens Bulloch, continued the family tradition of military service. This biography relates the life of a man of varied interests and numerous occupations, a learned man, an aristocratic Southern gentleman.
Based almost entirely upon primary documents, many of which are presented as appendices, this biography reveals James' life, loves, and occupations--a man whose bloodline flowed in the veins of James Dunwoody Bulloch, Irvine Stephens Bulloch, Theodore Roosevelt, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
