Author Biography
JOHN Obert Voll is professor of history at the University of New Hampshire, a past president of the Middle East Studies Association, and the author of the Historical Dictionary of the Sudan, coauthor of The Contemporary Islamic Revival, and coeditor of Eighteenth-Century Renewal and Reform in Islam.
