Product Description

by A. L. Parr (Author)

Here is clear discussion of how each Old Testament book fits into God's complete revelation. With a wide variety of features these 330-plus pages are a resource that you will use in every study of the Old Testament. An outline of each book shows the message and character of the book at a glance. Ten appendixes add supplemental information regarding the period of the Judges, a harmony of the Books of Kings and Chronicles, the relationship of the kings and prophets of the divided kingdom, lists of the kings of Babylon and Persia and more, including a chronological schedule for daily Bible reading. A popular feature of Introduction to Old Testament Books is the combined Index/Glossary with keys to pronunciation of over 260 names of people and places. Discussion/Review questions for each book make this an excellent text for classroom study. Students of the Old Testament will find this book an easy-to-use help in understanding the general content and nature of the Old Testament, becoming acquainted with the organization of the Old Testament with a view to aiding future study of the entire Bible, seeing in the history of the world the consistent thread of promise and the preparation for the coming Savior. The treatment of each of the 39 books of the Old Testament answers the questions when was it written, who wrote it, why was it written, what does it mean, and what specific purpose does it have in conveying the whole message of God to man.
