Product Description

by Arnel Dime (Illustrator), Tenesha L. Curtis (Editor), Souad Ismael (Author)

Zahra is a seven-year-old girl with a lot of imagination and dreams who happens to wear a hijab. She wants people to see who she is beyond the beautiful scarf that adorns her head.

Explaining diversity and inclusion to children can be quite difficult. In I Am Me, I Am Zahra, Zahra uses her wisdom and compassion to teach kids the importance of accepting everyone and being kind.

A smart addition to any classroom library or home bookshelf, this inclusive picture book encourages young readers to care for one another-no matter what someone looks like or where they come from.

Read it aloud to begin conversations with children about living in a multicultural world and the importance of diversity in our everyday lives.

Souad Ismael holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Sociology from Eastern University in Washington. As a mother and an educator for more than a decade, she developed a passion for creating an inclusive and culturally responsive educational environment for children. Through her consulting firm, Ismael has facilitated dozens of cultural workshops exploring the challenges of empowering children growing up in diverse societies. She believes books are a wonderful resource to use to that end. This belief inspired her journey as a children's book writer.

I Am Me, I Am Zahra is her first children's book.
