Product Description

by Christopher Lawson (Author)

This book is intended to inform the reader on the most basic of levels about financial literacy. Oftentimes in life, we blame the material for being outdated but not the presenter. The goal is to connect the financial world and the inner city by giving guides and examples. Hopefully, reading this type of book will spark something and allow those creative juices that you have upstairs to start flowing. Finances are like tools. Each job requires a different one, with a few exceptions that allow one tool to fix multiple projects. Some financial information could be considered the exception, but that does not apply to all. As a millennial, taking the same path that a baby boomer took to gain financial independence probably wouldn't work for you. The truth is, times are different. Most information from 1980 will not be beneficial to you in 2018.

Author Biography

I am just a guy from the inner city of Columbia, South Carolina. A guy that was able to use his environment as fuel and his mistakes as lessons. I have always been intrigued with money. My passion for money, along with my ability to sprint, eventually took me to college. I later graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Retail Management. It was here where I was able to challenge my boundaries and scratch my itch. Upon graduation, I interned with Nordstrom where I learned a lot about the inner workings of the retail industry. Soon after I would go on to receive an additional degree in Financial Management when I joined the Air Force as a Financial Comptroller. At times, as a young Airman, I was in charge of a multi-million dollar budgets very early in my career. This experience was paramount in my quest for financial enlightenment. I was fortunate enough to learn a great deal about government budgeting, management, and spending. Along with having financial exposure, I was also able to rack up some serious air time. In my three years with the Air Force I visited over 20 countries on humanitarian missions. These missions included everything from currency exchange, fee negotiation, to multi pallet drop offs. I have since gone on to pursue other endeavors in my military and civilian careers. The book on Christopher Lawson is still being written so stay tuned.
