Author Biography
My name is Diane and I am the middle child of a family borne in a true Southern Baptist tradition in Louisiana. When I was a child my siblings and I and all the children who attended Sunday school in our church received holiday speeches to recite during the annual Christmas and Easter Sunday's Sunday School programs. These were the times of the year that most families, even those who inconsistently attended church felt privileged to show up to ensure their children were issued speeches coinciding with that holiday celebration. As children, we were all so excited about learning those special speeches and marching across the front of the church or auditoriums in our new holiday clothing to proudly recite and offer our greatest presentations. Parents and other relatives and family friends also came to watch the children shine on stage and walk the walk of local fame. When visiting Grandma and Grandpa on Christmas day, we often recited our Christmas speeches for them and other older relatives who could not attend our church festivities. By doing this they were all included and received a little piece of Heaven at Christmastime. That was quite a few years ago and many of the elderly have transitioned to be with the Lord. When my family and friends from some of the families I grew up around are blessed to share a Christmas meal together, we recall those happier days and have our own children and grandchildren to participate in this wonderful and wholesome tradition.
