Product Description
Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom is the shop-favorite batting for longarm and machine quilters who want a soft, low-loft layer that handles like cotton but holds its shape like a blend. Each roll measures 96" wide by 30 yards, so a single roll covers most queen and king tops in one piece and yields many smaller projects.
The 80% natural cotton and 20% polyester blend pairs the breathability and antique drape of cotton with the strength and bearding resistance of polyester. It is needle-punched for stability, so it resists shifting and bunching under the needle and delivers crisp, even stitch definition on both light and dark fabrics.

Frequently asked questions
What loft is Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom batting?
It has a low loft of about 1/8", which is ideal for a flat, traditional quilt finish and for showing off detailed quilting.
Do I need to pre-wash this batting?
No. Pre-washing is not recommended. Expect 3-5% shrinkage in the first wash, which gives the soft, crinkled look many quilters want.
How far apart can I space my quilting stitches?
You can quilt up to 4" apart. Closer quilting will give a more durable and defined finish.
Is this batting good for longarm machines?
Yes. The 96" width and needle-punched construction make it a popular choice for both longarm and domestic machine quilting.
How big is one roll?
Each roll is 96" wide and 30 yards (90 feet) long. The 96" width covers most queen and king quilt tops in a single piece, and the length lets you cut many projects from one roll.
Shipping note: We are unable to ship rolls of batting to Alaska, Hawaii, or anywhere outside the 48 contiguous states. Orders from these locations will be cancelled and refunded.
