Hmong are a group of people who are recorded to have been living in China since 3,000 BC. History indicates that Hmong fought many wars with the Chinese to resist assimilation, as well as to repel oppression. Many were forced to migrate out of China to neighboring Southeast Asian countries during the middle of the eighteenth century due to political oppression, later on settling in Western countries such as the United States.
