Product Description

by Ted Corcoran (Author)

It is often said that facts tell, but stories sell. This is because our minds will remember a story long after the fact it supported is forgotten.

This book is full of stories: stories that can teach us lessons in our personal, business and community lives. Some are humorous, some inspirational, some descriptive and some downright strange All, however, are educational in one way or another.

The title is based on a saying of the author's grandmother who would regularly announce "it's like hiring a car and walking after it", to describe a useless activity. Back in 1950's Ireland, cars were pretty scarce on Irish country roads. If one were to go to the expense of hiring one, walking after it would be a terrible waste of energy, money and time. The author uses this expression, and others like it, to illustrate practices he has come across in both his professional and private life. Practices, from which, he believes, we can all learn.

Every story in this book has a lesson; a lesson that is easily read and internalised. All of which should help you to avoid hiring that car...and walking after it
