Product Description

by Walter Haugen (Author)

POSTMODERN SOLUTIONS for a POST-COLLAPSE WORLD Civilization requires slaves. The only reason we can pat ourselves on the back and say how democratic we are is because fossil fuel energy slaves have replaced human slaves. Unfortunately, modern civilization wastes this fossil fuel energy on nonsense, all the while spewing noxious gases into the air, water and land. This waste and treachery has gone on long enough that our climate is now changed irrevocably for the worse. Soon our modern globalized civilization will collapse. This book is neither a history lesson nor a science fiction fantasy. The Growth Model does not work without cheap energy, so we have to come up with a different model for the future. Our political overlords are unable to even conceive of a Plan B, much less a multitude of plans for regional application, so we have to do for ourselves. As the American and European economies wind down, we will need to manage the collapse that affects us all. This will require physical, social, psychological and even spiritual adjustments. These essays are a collection of blogs, reviews and longer essays written over a six-year period from 2008 through 2013. They are intended to give YOU, the individual, hints on how to manage the collapse which has already begun. They are a counterpoise to the unproductive nonsense in the mass media. Each essay stands on its own, so you can skip around.
