Product Description

by Lance S. Perry Pe Cpe (Author)

In today's healthcare workplace, the two most rapidly changing dynamics of the US workforce is the expanding aging workforce and the ever-increasing obesity concerns. Each of these changing dynamics is a concern for companies by themselves alone. But when both of these concerns are present in the workplace at the same time, the impact can be crippling to an organization. Nowhere is this convergence of the aging workforce and the impact of the obese more pronounced than the nursing and healthcare industry. Companies can either batten down and do nothing or they can properly prepare. Either way, the 'perfect storm' is fast approaching, and what they choose to do will determine their chance of survival. The Perfect Storm is contributing to today's healthcare workers' physically demanding occupation. Healthcare workers face demands from various physical, physiological, and psychological factors and the workers feel the impact. Many companies are turning to the science of ergonomics to help address these issues and make the workplace a better place to work.
