Product Description

by Janet Mischler (Author)

Although he is a very young boy, the character of Humphrey Gollibus was actually conceived many years ago by Janet Mischler's father, James Poole. After reading many of the classic bedtime tales to her he would sometimes invent stories. Janet's favorite featured the adventures of Humphrey Gollibus, a young boy who was eternally getting himself into predicaments from which her father had to strain his imagination to extricate poor Humphrey. Lamentably, that was so long ago that Janet can't recall any of the plots, just the fact that Humphrey always managed to save himself and the animals that were often woven into these stories. Many years later, as a grown woman and mother of two, Janet decided to write this story about Humphrey. It quickly became a family favorite and was often read aloud to adults and children alike. Through the years "Gollibus" has taken on a special meaning for our family, and the story of his cloud circus has been told and retold across four generations. During family gatherings at Janet's home in Vermont, we often revel in "Gollibus skies" in which we fit clouds to animals or animals to clouds.
