The lgbtqi+ community has in the last few thousand years sat on the sidelines under the eyes of modern religions. The three main religions have spread hatred, fear and bigotry within their flocks, which has resulted in how we are shown as characters in books, movies and social media.
Perhaps one of the most interesting elements that show themselves is just how many deities who are Creator Spirits or Sun gods are seen as lgbtqi+. The concept of a creator being of both male and female sexuality is quite prevalent especially with the Island kingdoms of Asia, while Gay / Bi Sun gods are quite commonplace worldwide.
The Old world and its beliefs, many of which are still practised, had social structure and community at their heart. Sexuality didn't condemn you or force you to hide yourself. For the most part, society acknowledged and, in many cases, revered the lgbtqi+ community through priesthood and shamanism.
