English summary: On September 20th, 2013 a symposium was held at the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg-im-Breisgau to honor the 70th birthday of Prof. Dr. Gunter Hager. The honorific symposium was titled Fox or Hedgehog?: Case and System in Law and Scholarship. The theme of this meeting was taken from the fragmentary verse of the ancient poet Archilochus that states The fox knows many things but the hedgehog knows one great thing. This juxtaposition of the fox and the hedgehog has been elaborated on by modern philosophers to describe two broad characteristics of thought. The first, embodied by the fox, considers a variety of cases without necessarily synthesizing them and the second, embodied by the hedgehog, tends towards systemic thinking. The theme of the symposium was to understand how these two modes related to each other in law and scholarship. This volume documents how the presentations from the symposium approached this theme from a plurality of perspectives as well as the discussion on the presentations. German description: Am 20. Geburtstags von Prof. Dr. Gunter Hager an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat Freiburg ein Symposium unter dem Titel "Fuchs oder Igel? - Fall und System in Recht und Wissenschaft" statt. In Anlehnung an das Versfragment des Dichters Archilochos, "Der Fuchs weiss viele Dinge, aber der Igel weiss ein grosses Ding.", ging die Veranstaltung der Frage nach, in welchem Verhaltnis das Falldenken - gleichsam verkorpert durch den Fuchs - und das Systemdenken - gleichsam verkorpert durch den Igel - in Recht und Wissenschaft stehen. Dieser Band dokumentiert die auf dem Symposium gehaltenen Referate, die sich dem Thema anhand ausgewahlter Facetten naherten, sowie die Diskussionen zu den Beitragen.
