J. Frank McGill is a Brooks Distinguished Professor of Agronomy (Emeritus), College of Agriculture Extension Service, University of Georgia. He and his wife reside in Tifton, GA. Today the author "piddles" on their 120 acre peanut and cotton farm near Brookfield, GA, spends time with the grandchildren, and travels with his wife, Janet. "At this farm, I am less than ten miles 'as the crow flies' from the 118 acre farm on which I was born. It's obvious I didn't get very far in life!"
