When I was a little girl, my mum used to call me Flossie Bonce and as I grew older, I realised it was a great name for a character in one of my books. The narrative came to me when I was hosting my son's 6th birthday party. We organised a game of pass the parcel, but I have quite a naughty sense of humour, so decided to tell the children it was pass the parsnip, a healthier version of the game. Luckily, I had given them prizes they would rather have, so all ended well. The two strands of this story collided, and Flossie Bonce the book was born.Q. Why should I give your books a try?A. I have been an illustrator for nearly a zillion years (or so it feels ) and I LOVE drawing wildlife. Jules Marriner lives and works on the Isle of Wight, UK. She has been working as an illustrator since 1995 and draws her inspiration from the sea and landscape surrounding her. Flossie Bonce is the name her Mum used to call her when she was a little girl. She also quite likes parsnips and Father Christmas. Otherwise, there is no connection. In her spare time, Jules likes to save worms from pavements on rainy days and comb twigs and leaves out of her naughty chihuahua's ear hair.
