Misinformation and misconceptions dominate the nutritional supplement landscape concerning the scientifically proven benefits omega-3 fish oils. Many books claim fish oil supplements to be "miracles" or "wonder pills." But, such is far from the scientific reality of failed and disappointing studies conducted on so-called fish oil products, even though many such products actually come from plants. Our most reliable scientific studies have found that fish oil does not reduce risk or prevent cardiovascular diseases, strokes, dementia, diabetes, macular degeneration or schizophrenia. Alarmingly, these studies show a significant increased risk of developing prostate cancer. The truth must be told. Dr. Howes was the first in the history of Tulane School of Medicine to receive double doctorate degrees in medicine and biochemistry simultaneously. He was the first to complete board eligibility in both general and plastic surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, all in a six-year period. Dr. Howes invented the triple lumen venous catheter, which has been credited with helping save the lives of over 20 million critically ill patients worldwide.
