Product Description

by Ernst Schuberth (Author)

First Steps in Proven Geometry provides teachers of Middle schoolers with inventive approaches to bring students to experiences of geometry before theories and formulas. The author is a longtime Waldorf teacher and so is well-grounded in hand-son approaches to math and geometry. Placing experience and drawing geometrical constructions before theory and abstract formulas gives young people a deeper understanding and confidence in geometry and their own understanding of it. For parents, too, this book will give creative ideas for bringing their middle school sons and daughters to a sense of the beauty and magic of geometry with practical approaches and step-wise ideas for introducing geometrical form and function. Pictures do speak a thousand words and this is most true in geometry. Give the book a try for renewed and new understanding of the predictable clarity of geometric thinking

Author Biography

Ernst Schuberth was born in a part of Germany that is now Poland, post World War II. He attended Waldorf schools and at the University of Bonn in Germany studied, mathematics, physics, educational science, and philosophy. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tügingen.
