Product Description

by Robert Macisaac (Author)

This book of poems has two main aims. It is first of all an attempt to convey in different ways the experience that comes over us in the first second, or moment, of seeing, hearing, or feeling something new and unexpected. That first moment where even the most familiar experience can be seen as something unique, as something that has never happened before. The second aim is to respect and explore the traditional verse and metrical forms in the English language. There is particular focus on iambic pentameter; tetrameter in various iterations; octosyllabic verse; the English and Petrarchean sonnet; and the extended narrative or image. This includes both the articulation of personal experiences and the use and expression of traditional myths and stories.
